We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Emergency Veterinarian to join our team. Summary of Position:
These duties will include, but may not be limited to: keeping accurate medical records, clerical work, client education, promotion of hospital services, and support of the organization. This position requires some knowledge of hospital procedures, policies, and services, patient treatment protocols, hospital computer systems, and the standard procedures, records, and terminology used in a veterinary hospital. The anesthesia technician provides support to the veterinarian by assisting with patient restraint, procedures, surgery, nursing care, admittance and discharge while providing direct assistance by ensuring patient health and safety surrounding a procedure.
Responsibilities:
- Display confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, and pain
- Be comfortable with various techniques of patient restraint
- Understand and limit the potential exposure to bites, scratches, and injuries to self and others
- Understand that employees in this role are exposed to various cleaning solutions, chemicals, odors, noises, and animal wastes
- Understand zoonotic disease risk in the work environment and use appropriate safety equipment and policies to protect self and others
- Perform observations, treatments and administer medications, including proper and compete documentation, as directed by the veterinarian
- Prepare and assist with diagnostics and procedures
- Perform laboratory tests and radiographs
- Fill prescriptions and understand security measures of controlled drugs
- Operate and properly maintain hospital equipment (fluid pumps, scales, anesthetic monitors, etc.)
- Understand and implement proper disinfection guidelines
- Communicate with clients about the status of patients as directed by the veterinarian
- Participate in all mandatory staff meetings
- Communicate and approach job duties in a mature manner
- Foster teamwork approach and work well with all members of the hospital team
- Ability to describe and administer common medications, inhalant anesthetics, and agents used in surgical patients including indications and reactions
- Calculate and administer CRIs
- Assign appropriate ASA status to patients and formulate an acceptable and patient-specific anesthetic plan in collaboration with attending veterinarian
- Ability to describe, set up, and operate monitoring equipment, breathing systems and their indications, and anesthesia machine components
- Properly and safely perform endotracheal intubation under appropriate supervision of the attending veterinarian
- Assess proper anesthetic depth and adjust protocol accordingly
- Ability to identify and respond to an adverse cardiovascular and/or respiratory complication or reaction
- Ability to perform swift and accurate CPR
Duties:
- Day prior to surgery
- Be sure clients have confirmed surgery and coordinate with CSR to attain and prepare patient records
- Review exam findings, medical history, medication usage, and diagnostic results of patient
- Prepare anesthetic record according to veterinary orders
- Be sure all needed medications, supplies, and equipment are stocked and available
- Discuss any concerns or special plans with veterinarian
- Morning of surgery
- Ensure vital signs were attained and current weight is recorded (check with DVM if weight is different than expected)
- Ensure IV catheter is placed in an acceptable location with t-port attached
- Schedule patient walk (and additional set of vitals if needed) prior to estimated induction
- Review anesthetic record for accuracy, draw up, label, and organize medications
- Administer pre-medications according to plan and schedule
- Set up Pre-Op:
- Anesthesia machine (perform leak test, check iso level and soda lime)
- Endotracheal Tubes (select expected size, one smaller and one larger, perform leak test), laryngoscope, tie, and sterile lube
- Monitoring equipment (ECG, SpO2, blood pressure)
- Fluid pump(s)
- Patient Pre-op:
- Ensure veterinarian has performed daily exam and be sure no changes are warranted
- Connect patient to IV fluids, monitoring equipment, and pre-oxygenate for at least 5 minutes
- Induce and intubate patient, ensuring proper tube placement in the trachea and not further than the thoracic inlet
- Monitor patient as usual following surgical plan
- Ensure completion of Surgery Morning and Anesthesia Checklists
- Patient Post-Op:
- Be conscious of patients needs and ensure kennel preparation (brachycephalic, non-ambulatory, hypothermic, number of fluid pumps, etc.)
- Patient should remain intubated until definitive ability to swallow is observed. Follow brachycephalic protocol when indicated.
- Continuous Sp02 should be monitored until extubated, post extubation result should be documented on chart to ensure patient is able to oxygenate without airway support
- Schedule at least 3 hourly vital and SpO2 monitoring or longer if any are outside of parameters (then schedule until normal followed by one to make sure they stayed normal) then according to veterinarian orders on treatment sheet
- Complete charting and charges
- Fill post-op prescriptions as needed
- Day of discharge:
- Review discharge instructions and medications for accuracy
- Update charges and ensure veterinarian reviews for accuracy
- Prepare patient for discharge-remove IVC and hypafix, check for soil/blood, brush and fluff, fit for E-Collar
- Coordinate with CSR patient discharge, assisting out to vehicle and ensuring all medications and patient belongings are present

Position Overview
- The Customer Service Representative / Receptionist contributes to the success of a high-performing organization committed to delivering superior care and exceptional service. Performs a range of administrative and customer service tasks, providing valuable support to the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides excellent customer service in-person, over the phone, and during high-stress situations.
- Manages lobby flow, addresses concerns, calms distressed owners, and schedules appointments.

Position Overview
- The Hospital Manager works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. The Hospital Manager partners with the Veterinarian to provide an efficient and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervises the staff within all hospital support departments; achieves and maintains all labor goals.
- Hires and trains office and technical clinic support staff; responsible for new hire paperwork.
- Orients and trains new clinic staff to the hospital and duties.
- Reviews work performance of direct reports, constructively delivers feedback, resolves personnel issues, and discussions with the Regional Manager weekly.
- Conducts timely performance appraisals.
- Documents and reports accidents; files appropriate reports.
- Writes policies/procedures relating to all technical aspects of the hospital and presents for approval.
- Manages schedules for technical and administrative staff coordinates the DVM.
- Monitors Workforce Management for missed punches and management of overtime hours daily.
- Administers the daily operations.
- Works with the PetVet Care Centers support team to ensure compliance with all administrative responsibilities.
- Monitors budgets, purchases equipment and supplies, and oversees the maintenance of the facility.
- Responsible for submitting contract veterinarian invoices, submitting all local vendor invoices, ensuring invoice accuracy, and obtaining w9’s from local vendors.
- Assists in resolving issues with pet owners where appropriate.
- Reviews revenue, labor, and employee issues with the PetVet leadership on a weekly conference call; achieve goals set in each area.
- Responsible for all local accounting functions; ensure daily financial information is accurate.
- Oversees the management of the inventory and ensures proper documentation and systems are in place.
- May establish and oversee billing practices; reviews and maintains the accuracy of billing and oversees charge capturing.
- May be responsible for contracts or negotiations with insurance providers.
- Maintain compliance of current licensure and the display of the same. Maintaining updated licenses for DVMs.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, health science or related field preferred.
- At a minimum, five years of direct office management experience, including at least two years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- May consider an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
- Ability to provide customer service in a courteous, prompt, and efficient manner.
- Computer proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and applicable organization-specific software.
- Establish and maintain productive and cooperative working relationships.
- Active time management and organizational skills to complete work promptly.
- Excellent communications skills both orally and in writing.
- Must be flexible with scheduling and able to work some weekends and holidays.

- May include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Position Overview
- The veterinary assistant provides support to the veterinarians and technicians in their daily tasks by cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising and grooming patients, preparing and sanitizing surgery suites, restraining and handling patients, and clerical and administrative work. They deliver quality care for all patients and provide exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate care to all patients
- Greet patients and their owners as they arrive and show them to an examining room, taking the patient's weight and other vital signs upon arrival
- Triage patients, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer medication as directed by the licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's).
- Calm and soothe anxious patients
- Assist doctors and technicians with the administration of medications or with patient restraint
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment, including EKG, fluid pump, syringe pump, scales, anesthetic monitors, and machines, etc.
- Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs.
- Feed patients as prescribed by the attending doctor or as the client has requested; record appetites; recognize and report any unusual conditions or abnormal behaviors
- Communicate in a positive manner with clients and ensure that they feel comfortable leaving their pet(s)
- Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans
- Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital each day; clean equipment, kennels, and facilities using chemicals and supplies; ensure the safe use of chemicals; complete laundry
- Bath and care for patients who stay overnight; ensure that every animal released is clean and properly groomed prior to their release
- Adhere to the hospital's safety and wellness regulations
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Show up for work regularly; full-time presence at work is essential for every shift
- Promote hospital products and services and support the organization
- Respond respectfully with urgency to directions given by Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVT).
